Students enrolled in the Beginning Band or Middle School Band classes take weekly or bi-weekly private lessons during the school day. These lessons are approximately twenty minutes long and occur roughly once a week. Students are drawn from their classes based on their instrument section. During lessons students are given individualized, instrument based instruction that helps develop technical skills and fundamentals of the instruments. Student performance in the lessons is not graded based on ability, but participation and growth contributes to the summative, year end Criterion B (Developing Skills) grade.

Participation in private lessons with a professional teacher of the students instrument will also fulfill this requirement. See the "Private Lessons" form under the Resources menu to find teachers in your area!

Lessons this academic year will be by appointment or in sectionals. Due to the Pandemic, Hybrid and Distance Learning have affected regular Lessons. Some Lessons are being done "on-line" by appointment.
